Organic farms require a significantly longer period of time as well as substantially more amounts of labor before they harvest compared to traditional farms that use industrial products and techniques. The produce of the former therefore costs more than the latter. The question therefore is whether the added safety and nutrition is worth the added costs. Different people may have different opinions about this matter. It should also be noted however that organic produce also helps support the sustainability of our planet. Chemical pesticides and fertilizers when continuously applied to soil will eventually turn it desolate and no longer fit for farming. This means that conventional farming actually reduces the number of farming suitable lands over the years. Going organic eating therefore not only helps protect your health, it also helps safeguard the welfare of the environment.
